You know I love a good cry. And let me tell you, there were plenty of good happy crys to be had during Zach and Ashley’s wedding weekend. There were so many moments where eyes all around were full of joyful tears, and I’ve never felt a closeness and a warmth in a big crowd of guests like I felt in Zach’s parents’ backyard when Zash tied the knot. Ashley is one of my best friends from law school. She has a kind and genuine heart that’s one-of-a-kind, and she married a wonderful person who is just as heartfelt and graceful as she is.
Because I knew we’d be celebrating hard, we brought the full team. Jay, Rachel, and our wonderfully talented second shooter Anna Pritchard made sure we had plenty of photos but also plenty of time to soak in the day. We hope you enjoy the photos we made! Maybe you’ll feel a little bit of the amazing joy that we felt being there.
I’ll kick things off with the ring shot — Zach designed Ashley’s wedding band, with all kinds of perfect-for-her colors and shapes.
And that’s Zach’s cousin doing Ashley’s hair. Friends and family made just about every aspect of the celebration possible and it was awesome to be a part of that.
Makeup talent brought to you by Ashley’s sister, Sky.
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Lauren, talented floral designer at Project Floral, wonderful person to spend a wedding weekend with, and Ashley’s childhood friend.
Zach’s sporting a handmade bolo tie that Ashley put together for him.
He got ready in his childhood home, an amazing house outside of Steamboat Springs that Zach’s parents built with their own hands.
And the chuppah? Also handmade, the incredible work of Zach and his dad.
Oh hey! It’s me, sharing one of Ashley and Zach’s wedding readings. They picked a passage that Jay and I shared at our own wedding. I cried when I read it–this whole ceremony space was full of happy tears, I’m telling you.
Zach’s neighbors are talented musicians and they played the ceremony processional. Another of our law school friends, Mandi, sang Ashley and Zach’s recessional song, which turned into a community sing along. Perfect.
Up next are our bride & groom portraits and because I played no part in taking them–I hung back at the ceremony site and let the other members of the photo team go for it–I’m not ashamed to say they’re pretty beautiful.
Cakes! Made with love by Melisa Moore, aka Wood Box team mom.
Ashley’s family friends emceed and deejayed the reception and it was incredible from start to finish. We’re working on putting together a wedding video, as well. Fingers crossed we captured a little bit of the spirit of that dance floor!
And here’s a few pictures of the Wood Box Studios team, having the best night ever.
